Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23rd July 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Irrelon Software Limited("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales, collects, uses and protects information in connection with:

  • the BattleCore mobile application for Android and iOS;
  • the battlecore.io website; and
  • BattleCore laser tag hardware and firmware.

We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. We do not sell your personal data, we do not serve advertising, and the BattleCore app contains no third-party analytics, tracking or advertising SDKs.

2. Information the BattleCore App Collects

The BattleCore app has no user accounts and no login. The majority of the data it handles stays on your device. The table below summarises every category of data the app accesses, why it is needed, and where it goes.

Session and connection identifiersRandomly generated IDs used to route real-time messages between players in a session.Sent to our real-time messaging provider. Not linked to any account or real-world identity.

The app does not collect your contacts, your photo library, your call or SMS history, your browsing activity, or any device advertising identifier.

3. Android Permissions and Why We Need Them

  • Location (fine and coarse): required for the live radar and proximity gameplay, and required by the Android operating system in order to scan for nearby Bluetooth Low Energy devices.
  • Bluetooth (scan, connect, admin): required to find, pair with and control your BattleCore taggers and hardware.
  • Camera: required to scan QR codes for hardware pairing and game joining.
  • NFC: required to read in-game item and weapon tags.
  • Internet: required for real-time multiplayer messaging between players.

Each of these permissions is requested at the point you first use the feature that needs it, and you can revoke any of them at any time in your device settings. Revoking a permission will disable the corresponding feature but will not otherwise prevent the app from running.

4. Information the Website Collects

If you join our mailing list or waitlist, we collect the email addressyou submit, together with the fact that you signed up via battlecore.io. We use this only to send you product news and launch updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send, or by contacting us.

Our hosting provider processes standard server logs (including IP address and browser user agent) for security and reliability purposes.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. We share data only with the service providers necessary to operate BattleCore:

  • Pusher (Channels): delivers real-time multiplayer messages between players in a game session. Messages are relayed, not retained as a gameplay history by us.
  • Vercel: hosts the battlecore.io website and the endpoint that authorises real-time session access.
  • Mailchimp: stores and sends our mailing list, if you have chosen to subscribe.

Other players: when you join a game session, your chosen player name, call sign and — where a location-based mode is active — your location are visible to the other players in that session. Only join sessions with people you trust.

We may also disclose information where we are required to do so by law.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

  • On-device data(paired devices, provisioning settings, player name and call sign) remains on your device until you clear the app's storage or uninstall the app. You can delete it at any time by doing either.
  • Real-time gameplay data (including location) is relayed between players for the duration of the session and is not stored by us afterwards.
  • Mailing list data is retained until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it.

To request deletion of any data we hold about you, email support@irrelon.com.

7. Security

All communication between the app and our services is encrypted in transit using HTTPS and secure WebSockets. Data held on your device is protected by your device's own operating system sandbox and security controls.

Please note that Wi-Fi credentials you enter for hardware provisioning are stored in the app's local storage so they can be reused when provisioning multiple devices, and are transmitted to your hardware over a direct Bluetooth connection. Anyone with physical, unlocked access to your device could potentially access this local storage. We recommend provisioning hardware onto a dedicated network rather than your primary home or business network.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's Privacy

BattleCore is a physical activity game that may appeal to younger players. The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. Because the app shares a player's chosen name and location with other players in the same session, we strongly recommend that a parent or guardian supervises use by children and that children use a nickname rather than their real name.

If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Your Rights

If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Where we rely on consent (for example, our mailing list), you may withdraw that consent at any time.

Our lawful bases for processing are your consent (mailing list, and each device permission you grant) and our legitimate interests in operating, securing and supporting the BattleCore product.

To exercise any of these rights, contact support@irrelon.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) or your local supervisory authority.

10. International Transfers

Our service providers may process data outside the United Kingdom and European Economic Area. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted to this page, and we will update the "Last updated" date above. Where changes are significant, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you.
